Integration guides in sport
Integration guides in sport
The aim is to use the integrative power of sport in order to positively meet the growing challenges of living together in a linguistically and culturally diverse population.
Whether man or woman, boxing or riding, we will find the right contact person and the right sport for you. The integration guides in Schleswig-Holstein are diverse. (Photo: from left: Valentin Gepper, TSV Neustadt, Nadine Witt, Jörg Illinseer, Vfl Bad Schwartau).
Do you have a migrant background and would prefer to speak to someone who makes you feel better understood or who speaks your native language? There are currently 48 integration pilots who are active in Schleswig-Holstein.
For example, Yasmen Aladawi (TSV Malente) speaks Arabic (left in the picture). You can find further integration guides in a list at the bottom of the link.
Task of integration pilots
Integration pilots (I-pilots) are mediators and links between refugees, migrants, sports clubs and associations. As contact persons, they determine the wishes and needs of all parties and coordinate them with each other. I-Lotsen also offer orientation assistance in the new, unfamiliar environment and accompany refugees and migrants to the sports activities. They can also offer or initiate their own sports activities. The planning, organization and implementation of target group-oriented sporting events and festivals is also part of her area of responsibility in addition to public relations work. The aim is to get refugees excited about sport and thus make it easier for them to integrate into society.
Daniel Günther, Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein (center), has been a major supporter of better integration of refugees in the country for several years. Here at the course of the I-pilots of the seminar in the House of Sports 2019 in Kiel: "Where are the women in sports?"
Already knew?
There are over 103 million forcibly displaced people worldwide. The number of people who have to flee war, conflict and persecution has never been as high as it is today (source: UN refugee aid; as of January 16, 2023).
Sport is valuable and a great opportunity to make it easier for refugees to integrate into our country. We are therefore happy about any help!
